New England Pallets & Skids, Inc.
How Pallets Are Made

Lumber is brought in from all across New England and Canada.

We purchase both pre-cut and cant lumber. Pre-cut lumber can be any size we request and cant lumber is four inches by six inches in random lengths. We then take the cant lumber and cut it down to meet the customer's needs.

Cants come from the heart of the log. The diagram to the right shows that most of the log is used for grade lumber.

You will find this grade lumber in your kitchen cabinets, fine furniture, hardwood floors, etc. And what remains was once considered waste.

Over the years the pallet industry has grown due to manufacturing increases and demands for more shipping materials. Wood pallets are the most environmentally friendly unit load base and the most cost effective way to move product.

REMEMBER, WOOD IS A RENEWABLE RESOURCE!

Once the material is cut to specifications, it is then assembled in either one of our two Viking automatic nailers. These nailers are top of the line in our industry and consistently produce quality pallets.

Once the pallets are assembled, they are either loaded onto a truck or put into our yard for future shipments.
